7 June 2018, UN Headquarters New York

Accelerating technological transitions towards the SDGs

This G-STIC Special Event, organised in the context of the third STI Forum, offered a unique opportunity to learn more about the integrated technological solutions presented at G-STIC 2017 and to help define the content and process of G-STIC 2018 (Brussels, November 28-30). During this Special Event, the G-STIC 2017 Key Findings have been illustrated and enlarged upon with the goal to identify concrete policy actions that can forward sustainable technological transitions towards the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), 17 internationally agreed ambitious goals to move the world to a more sustainable future by 2030.

This G-STIC Special Event has showcased market-ready and scalable examples of integrated technological solutions that are applied on the ground and that can significantly contribute to the achievements of the SDGs. It has been a unique opportunity for participants to learn more about these practical applications of technological transformations for the SDGs, and to assess the usefulness of their application in their own country in support of the national voluntary action programmes to achieve the SDGs.
