G-STIC CLIMATE ACTION PROGRAMME: €15,88 MILLION SUBSIDIES

Full project proposals can be submitted from 5 July 2022

Is implementing and upscaling climate solutions in developing countries something you’ve been working on? Do you have a project that aims to strengthen the implementation of climate policies, strategies, regulations and action plans in developing countries?

The Government of Flanders is providing €15,88 million in subsidies for the second project call of the G-STIC Climate Action Programme in 2022. These subsidies are meant for both demonstration projects as well as dissemination and capacity building projects implemented by Flemish organisations in developing countries.

Applications for financial support for eligible projects can be submitted from 5 July 2022 and must be received by 13:00 CEST on 9 September 2022 via the project website of the G-STIC Climate Action Programme. However, all project proposals must be registered by 13:00 CEST on 26 August 2022. After registration, you can further develop your project by the deadline of 9 September 2022. A full project proposal includes a fully and correctly completed submission template, project budget, logical framework and any relevant attachments.

Project objectives

To be eligible for financial support in the G-STIC Climate Action Programme, projects must directly and explicitly aim at supporting adaptation and/or mitigation actions in developing countries.

Adaptation projects

Projects that aim at reducing the vulnerability of human or natural systems to both existing and expected climate change impacts by preserving or strengthening resilience through increased ability to adapt to shocks and variability, better absorption of the stresses caused by climate change and/or limiting exposure to it.

Mitigation projects

Projects that contribute to stabilisation of greenhouse gas concentrations in the atmosphere, to a level that avoids dangerous anthropogenic interference with the climate system by promoting efforts to either reduce or avoid greenhouse gas emissions or enhance greenhouse gas storage.

Focusing on 7 sectors with a high impact on climate change

Project types

Dissemination and/or capacity building projects

Dissemination projects focus on the dissemination and/or roll out of research and/or policy results. Capacity building projects focus on strengthening knowledge, skills and/or resources. Projects can also combine these dissemination and capacity building aspects. The maximum subsidy awarded to any individual project is €250,000 (not exceeding 85% of the total project cost).

Demonstration projects

Demonstration projects focus on the demonstration and/or upscaling of market-ready innovative solutions. The maximum subsidy awarded to any individual project is €2,500,000 (not exceeding 60% of the total project cost).

Evaluation full project proposals

The full project proposals will be evaluated by an independent jury under the coordination of the Flemish Department of Environment & Spatial Development in September/October 2022.

The approved projects will be announced by the end of December 2022 and can start in January 2023.
