G-STIC at the 2019 STI Forum

The fourth STI Forum

Science, Technology and Innovation for ensuring inclusiveness and equality

The annual Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals (STI Forum) is a part of the Technology Facilitation Mechanism mandated by the 2030 Agenda.

The STI Forum provides a venue for facilitating interaction, matchmaking and the establishment of networks between relevant stakeholders and multi-stakeholder partnerships. All of this is done with a two-fold purpose in mind. First, it aims to identify and examine technology needs and gaps in terms of scientific cooperation, innovation and capacity-building. Second, it intends to facilitate the development, transfer and dissemination of relevant technologies for the Sustainable Development Goals.

The fourth STI Forum took place on 14-15 May 2019 in UN Headquarters, New York. This edition was dedicated to Science, Technology and Innovation for ensuring inclusiveness and equality, with a special focus on SDGs 4, 8, 10, 13, and 16.

SDG 4 - Quality education
SDG 8: Decent work and economic growth
SDG 10 - Reduced inequalities
SDG 13: Climate action
SDG 16 - Peace, justice & strong institutions
