{"id":12853,"date":"2020-06-17T16:37:53","date_gmt":"2020-06-17T14:37:53","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/staging.gstic.org\/?page_id=12853"},"modified":"2022-05-09T13:16:04","modified_gmt":"2022-05-09T11:16:04","slug":"sti-forum-2018","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/www.gstic.org\/past-events\/sti-forum-2018\/","title":{"rendered":"G-STIC at the 2018 STI Forum"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<h1>\n\t\tG-STIC at the 2018 STI Forum\n\t<\/h1>\n\t<h2>The third STI Forum<\/h2>\n<h3>Science, Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals<\/h3>\n\t<p>The annual Multi-stakeholder Forum on Science Technology and Innovation for the Sustainable Development Goals (STI Forum) is a part of the Technology Facilitation Mechanism mandated by the 2030 Agenda.<\/p>\n<p>The STI Forum provides a venue for facilitating interaction, matchmaking and the establishment of networks between relevant stakeholders and multi-stakeholder partnerships. All of this is done with a two-fold purpose in mind. First, it aims to identify and examine technology needs and gaps in terms of scientific cooperation, innovation and capacity-building. Second, it intends to facilitate the development, transfer and dissemination of relevant technologies for the Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n<p>The third STI Forum took place on 5-6 June 2018 in UN Headquarters, New York.<\/p>\n\t<h2>The G-STIC event at the STI Forum<\/h2>\n<h3>Sharing the key findings of the 2017 G-STIC conference<\/h3>\n\t<p>The event organized by G-STIC on June 7, following the 2018 STI Forum, reported the key findings of the 2017 edition of the G-STIC conference. Those key findings have been illustrated and enlarged upon with the goal to identify concrete policy actions that can forward sustainable technological transitions towards the Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n<p>This G-STIC event showcased market-ready and scalable examples of integrated technological solutions that are applied on the ground and that can significantly contribute to the achievements of the SDGs. It provided a unique opportunity for participants to learn more about these practical applications of technological transformations for the SDGs, and to assess the usefulness of their application in their own country.<\/p>\n\t<meta itemprop=\"name\" content=\"G-STIC - Accelerating Technological Transitions Towards the SDGs\" \/><meta itemprop=\"description\" content=\"A special Global Sustainable Technology &amp; Innovation Conference (G-STIC) event, 'Accelerating Technological Transitions Towards the SDGs' took place during the context of the Multi-Stakeholder Forum on Science, Technology and Innovation (STI Forum) on June 7 at UN Headquarters, New York.
