With global temperatures hitting record highs, and extreme weather events affecting people around the globe, this year’s UN climate change conference, COP28, is a pivotal opportunity to correct course and accelerate action to tackle the climate crisis.

A stable climate and planetary health are critical conditions for achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in multiple areas, from zero-carbon energy to food security, eradicating poverty, water scarcity and more.

COP 28 will take place from 30 November until 12 December 2023 in Dubai. Interested in our activities at COP28? Explore below the events in which G-STIC is involved.

In the face of numerous concurrent crises, including the Covid-19 pandemic, the triple planetary crisis of climate change, biodiversity loss, and pollution, as well as energy insecurity and military conflicts, urgent action is needed to address the challenges and reinforce the Agenda 2030.

G-STIC accelerates the transition to wide-scale deployment of market-ready, transformative, integrated technological solutions to impact the achievement of the SDGs, 17 internationally agreed ambitious goals to move the world to a more sustainable future by 2030.

During this session the speakers will focus on how Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) stimulate the collaborative exchange of technology and innovation experiences, information, and implementation of public policy instruments regarding critical issues related to technology and innovation, specifically focusing on the context of climate change.

Moderated by Dr. Dietrich Van der Weken, General Manager G-STIC, VITO.

G-STIC is supported by 9 international co-hosts from Belgium, Brazil, China, India, Morocco, Nigeria, South Africa and South Korea.
