An ecological mindset

We’re sustainable at heart.

Sustainability is the cornerstone of the entire G-STIC conference organisation. Whether it relates to selecting partners or choosing food and drinks, every single decision is made with an ecological mindset. The choices that we make also meet all COVID-19 safety and health regulations.

Carbon neutral

A carbon-neutral event

We take all possible measures to keep the ecological footprint of the G-STIC conference as low as possible. In addition, we offset any remaining greenhouse gas emissions related to the organisation of the conference and the travel of our participants. We work closely with our partner Ecolife to achieve this goal.

Energy-neutral event

An energy-neutral venue

Tour & Taxis’ Gare Maritime uses the latest renewable energy technologies. 10,000 photovoltaic panels and building-integrated photovoltaic cells power the entire station. Geothermal wells provide heating and cooling, maintaining a temperate climate. 3000 m2 of indoor gardens provide a climate buffer for the Gare Maritime.

Low-carbon mobility

Low-carbon mobility

Tour & Taxis is located in the centre of Brussels. At any time of the day, the easiest way to get there is on foot, by bike or public transport. If you have no other option than to come by car, make sure to carpool and use one of the transit car parks. From there, you can easily take a bus, tram or metro to the conference venue.

Eco-aware communication

Eco-aware communication

The G-STIC app provides instant access to all conference information, including the latest programme. In case we still need to communicate in print, we use FSC® certified paper. Low-impact LCD-screens are used for presentations and for digital signage to guide you through the venue.

Sustainable accommodation

Sustainable accommodation

To facilitate your stay in Brussels, the Brussels Booking Desk has carefully selected a range of accommodation options close to the conference venue. These include various Green Key establishments and several hotels managing their own sustainability programme.

Low-impact catering

Low-impact catering

To reduce the carbon footprint of our conference catering, we focus on vegetarian dishes prepared with locally grown seasonal vegetables. We avoid disposable items as much as we can, and we do our very best to reduce food waste.

Recycle and reuse

Re-use & recycling

Whenever possible, we choose to use recycled and re-usable products. Also, we encourage you to bring your re-usable drinking bottle or coffee mug. In case waste cannot be avoided, separate waste collection on-site maximises the potential to re-use and recycle.

Responsible suppliers

Responsible suppliers

We select our suppliers based on their demonstrated efforts to achieve the goals that we set for the G-STIC conference. We use the MeetGreen® criteria for sustainable event organisation as a guideline for our partnerships.
