Closing the Climate Implementation Gap - Scaling Solutions through Global RTO Cooperation

16 November 2026
15:30 - 17:00 (TRT, Turkey Time)

Why do proven climate technologies so often struggle to move beyond successful demonstrations? And what does it take to turn them into projects that can attract investment and deliver results at scale?

Research and Technology Organisations (RTOs) have an important role to play. They can help adapt and validate technologies under local conditions, reduce implementation risks and connect technological expertise with local partners and financing institutions.

At this G-STIC side event during COP31, RTOs from Africa, Asia, Europe and Latin America will join government representatives and development and climate-finance institutions to examine how international cooperation can make that happen.

Drawing on concrete implementation experiences, the discussion will focus on:

  • what prevents proven technologies from being deployed at scale;
  • how RTOs can help turn successful demonstrations into locally anchored, investment-ready projects;
  • how international partnerships can bring together the expertise, local capacity and financing needed for implementation.

The session will also introduce G-STIC 3.0, an emerging approach to connecting technological expertise with local priorities, project development and existing financing mechanisms.

Join us to hear different regional perspectives, learn from practical implementation experiences and explore how international RTO cooperation can help bring climate solutions to scale.
